Almost to Leave It

Are you serious? Only 2 days left for the practical training before I actually finish it on Friday and get back to Kuantan on Sunday. Monday I’ll have class to go. Give me time to rest! But… no. That’s the schedule. Don’t grumble.

It has been a very short 3-month period spent doing the practical training in Pathology Department of Banting Hospital. I mean, ya. Seriously short. Only those doing training there would know and understand what I am talking about.

The staffs are very nice. They’ve been very cooperative yet friendly teachers and to an extent friends and family. It’s hard to leave them and get back to study for another 2 semesters, but then again, that’s the schedule. And not to forget other students from other universities, you rock guys!

To not forgetting them, they are En. Yusfairuz and Cik Parvathy the Science Officers, Encik Safri, Encik Sam, Encik Rosli, Puan Asmah, Cik Shidah, Encik Nordin, Puan Tumidah (won’t forget the day you cry when you told a story about HIV patient to me) Kak Umi, Puan Hamidah, Puan Kamariah, Puan Rohana, Encik Norli, Kak Intan and Puan Azimah. Owh yes, not to forget Encik Gui Yak Joo who has moved to Klang when I was in the fourth weeks in the lab.

Meanwhile, the rockin' students are Azman from UiTM, Wawa from UM, Shariffuddin, Nora, Raja Azren, Shantarubini, Aruna, Punitha and Poongkothai (Bunga) from PTPL, Tharshini, Dhlogees, Ritha, Janarthanan, Hamizah and Nawar from Unisel. Not to forget those who I’ve known but “graduated” from the lab earlier including Sivaguru, Sri Devan and Nadhirah. To add more are other staffs that went in and out of the lab – you never disappoint me with your attitudes. We share laughter and joy together. Haha...

I recommend those who want to do practical training in lab thingy to do it there in Pathology Department of Banting Hospital. Other than the point above, I can guarantee you this: you could highly probably have increased your body weight once you finish doing the practical training there. Why? Because the culture in the department is that sharing is caring. We share foods. Hehe...

But fortunately to me, I know how to balance my diet in order not to gain even a kilogram of it insha Allah. I started doing the practical training with my weight 81kg (based on the scale in the lab) and now it is still 81kg. Syukur~

Like today: we did a farewell makan-makan (read: party) for the staffs and the foods served is like for 50 people while there are only around 30 of us including staffs and students. Haha... and among the foods is pizza that I cook for my first time and it was quite commendable for a first-timer. I didn’t know that it would be that thick once I baked the pizza thus it ended being a thick-pizza-like-no-others. Haha...

You want the recipe in my style (read: suka hati style)? Wait ah. Wait for the next entry insha Allah...

To be updated.

But one thing to share for now; I've got a booking of 60 40 pieces of that popia using my recipe okay. Now I'm thinking of making it a serious business. Can uh? Huhu~

Danial

He’s Mohd Danial bin Zamri. He’s an adopted child from a broken family. Now he’s under my adopted brother and his wife’s care since he was 3 months old. They tied the knot last year but no sign of getting their own yet.

Danial is 1 year and 10 days old, born in 18 June 2007. My family made an anniversary celebration for him last weekend but since I was in Kuantan for IQUEST matter, I couldn’t make it. :(

I don’t want to tell more about his biological family because I myself don’t know much about it. But what I know is he’s fine and happy with my brother and his wife.

Danial, I wish you all the best in your life. I hope your parents will raise you up to your best.

Popia

Mari main masak-masak.

Sekejap.

Asal sedap, jalan...

Berkata tentang inti, resepi yang aku nak ajar ni sangatlah senang. Mak budak pun reti buat. Hua hua...

Ok, bahan-bahannya:
  • Kulit popia
  • Daging kisar
  • Sayur-sayuran campuran (baca: mixed vegetable)
  • Bawang Holland (kalau dungu sangat tak tahu apa bawang ni, ala.. bawang besar tapi yang warna putih dan rasanya manis, bukan yang bawang besar merah)
  • Sos tomato Maggi (paling sedap bagi aku)
  • Lada hitam
  • Oregano (sengaja nak menaikkan tahap piawai popia ni menjadi ala-ala kebaratan)
Langkah-langkah memasak inti:
Tips 1: Minimakan penggunaan minyak. Harga minyak sekarang mahal (takde kaitan).
  2. Masukkan mixed vegetable sesuka hati banyak mana nak diletak.
  3. Tuang sos tomato, juga sesuka hati.
Tips 2: Sos tu dah cukup masam manisnya. Tak payah nak gatal-gatal tambah apa-apa perisa lagi.
  4. Tambah lada hitam, oregano dan garam (kalau nak), lagi-lagi sesuka hati.

Cara-cara melipat popia:

Langkah 1: Letak inti popia sesuka hati.

Langkah 4: Jangan lipat habis lagi.

Siap! Selepas tu, terpulang la nak goreng ke tak. Pasal kulit popia tu dah sedia masak dah sebenarnye. Kalau goreng kena guna minyak. Sekali lagi, harga minyak dah mahal sekarang. Maksud aku, minyak kereta.

Nota kaki: Budak ni konon-kononnya nak tempah aku waktu hujung minggu apabila semester bermula. Suruh masak katanya. Harap jadi kenyataan. :p

Serve You Right

Disclaimer: None of the characters is true.

Scene 1

Kiki: Teh ‘O’ Limau panas satu!
Mum: Teh panas satu!

After few minutes... the ordered drinks served on their table. The two lovely mum and daughter stirred their drinks.

Kiki: I can see your drink isn’t as hot as mine. I thought you ordered teh panas, mum? Would you still like to drink it? It’ll not taste as good as hot one.
Mum: Let me try… sllrrrpp… ya la.. It’s not hot. Erm... Then?
Kiki: I’ll ask the waiter for a new one eh?
Mum: No la. It’s ok. Kesian... Lagipun, I’ve drunk a little bit already.
Kiki: It’s okay. We pay for it. No kesian kesian. I want you to be served with the best. Waiter! This one isn’t as hot as mine. Could you please provide us a new one, hot one?
Waiter: Sure.
Kiki: It is that easy.

Tax of payment: Nil

Scene 2

In McDonald restaurant. 3 friends bought each same set of breakfast meal.

Faridah: My scramble egg looks fresh, unlike yours. (Pointing to her friends’ meals)
Mimi: Ya la... ours look quite dark, while yours is freshly yellow! This is not fair! (smelling the egg) and they smell different too.
Kiki: (smelling the egg to check, not believing yet) Ok. Fine I’ll go and see the manager.

After few seconds...

Kiki: Could you please tell us why there’s difference between these scramble eggs?
Manager: (after observing the eggs for few seconds) Owh... this is because we used different cooks to cook them bla bla bla different stock bla bla bla… But it’s okay. We’ll replace with new ones.
Friends: TQ.

After that, the manager took away the 2 weirdly look and smelled scramble eggs and immediately threw them into the bin, right in front of the 3 happy-but-not-really friends. After few minutes, they got their new fresh scramble eggs and they had fun all day long after that.

Tax of payment: 5%

***********

Scene 3

Kiki: Waiter! Order!
Waiter: Yes, may I have your order please? (while handing out the menu book)

Kiki searching the best menu to suit her appetite and budget.

Kiki: I want this pizza, and spaghetti. For the drink, I’d like to try this. Soh*$%^&^%. Erm... how to pronounce this?
Waiter: Soh*$%^&^%.
Kiki: Owh. Give me that one, one.

After few minutes…

Kiki: Waiter! I want some more cheese, may I?
Waiter: Sure.
Kiki: And I want to add some more. Give me another pizza. Same one.

After few minutes after getting her second pizza…

Kiki: Waiter! I think this isn’t the one I ordered. I wanted the same pizza, but this one doesn’t taste the same like the first one.
Waiter: Ok, I’ll find you a new one ya?

Then she gets her ordered pizza, the correct one.

Kiki: Buuurrrppp… I think I want to bring this pizza home. My stomach is full already. Could you please tapau it?
Waiter: Sure.
Kiki: And please add some more cheese on the pizza. It’ll taste better. And don’t forget to provide extra tissue. My kids may need it.
Waiter: Sure.
Kiki: Erm... one more thing to add.
Waiter: What?
Kiki: Some honey on your lips.

Tax of payment: 10% including serving tax.

***********

Moral of the story: The more tax applied, the more Kiki will be fussy. It's all about being the best consumer for the best price.

Establishing the Community Blog

Created! Click to the image to go to the fresh blog. But it's yet to be updated with better layout and many more. Give me time to work more on it because I am currently busy with Induction Course of IQUEST 2008. I am the Programme Manager for the course. Wish us all the best guys!

It is not easy. Now I know...

Wish me all the best for it to become true as soon as possible. "It" refers to http://www.iiumbloggers.com.

Currently there are 3 things that are packed in my head:
1- Induction Course of IQUEST2008 this weekend.
2- Establishing the United Blogger Community of Students of IIUM (UBCSI) blog.
3- Of course, practical training.

Don't YM (read: az_zakingompol) me. I am busy. Huhu...

Disclaimer: Hasya is Kak Ila's daughter.

Additional info: Steve actually visited Banting for paragliding activity in Jugra. He is from Liverpool and he accidentally involved in the shooting for some unclear reasons. I spent about 10 minutes knowing him during the break from the shooting which was done in one homestay in my kampong. He is a very nice English man, 195 cm in height (according to him) and most importantly he's very talkative. You ask and he answers, and then he asks you back. Haha...

Watch 3 Hari 2 Malam about activities done by Dr. Fazley, Radhi and Steve in Kanchong Darat (a mostly-Javanese kampong) tentatively this 5 July 2008.

I am not Autocratic

To establish the IIUM students blogger community isn’t that easy. I keep on asking questions and suggestions and I myself have given few of mine in the previous entries. The latest one is the poll that you may see in the right panel of this blog.

However, it’s a fact that no one can deny: different people have different thoughts. Lain padang lain belalang. I’d like to address that differences shouldn’t be the barrier for unity. Even it is clearly mentioned in the Holy Quran that He purposely created us in groups for we to know each other. Well that I know you know better than I do; which chapter and which verse.

Back to the track, there’s a concern in me about using the name of “IIUM” in the name of the domain since we are not really recognized by the authority of IIUM. But think back, there’s a so-called group in one of group network site that uses the name called “Not-so-IIUM” in which the members are as what the name tells; they don’t portray the real values of muslimin and muslimah of IIUM students. Considering that, why shouldn’t we use the name iiumbloggers.com for the domain name right? No, I don’t mean that the destination of the blog will be like the “Not-so-IIUM” one, but the other way round. We want to provide a medium for discussion about latest updates about the university, and other related yet interesting matters like what discussed in this entry. I hope you got my point eh?

Meanwhile, I think I’ll take the name “United Bloggers Community of Students of IIUM”, abbreviated to UBCSI as the name of the community since no one expresses objection to the name previously, even some really love it. Is there anyone who doesn’t agree with this? Or you may have suggestions? Tell us.

Now I am working on registering the blog in wordpress.org and I’ll be using sempoihosting.com as the host and domain provider for the blog (credit to Anwar). Anything related to the expense for the hosting, I’ll be responsible for it. I don't mind. I just need you people to together establish the community by registering yourselves and promoting it to people. Bear in mind, we are talking about long term project here; it shouldn’t end once you finish studying in IIUM. That’s why it’s open to all as long as you satisfy the 3 conditions (read here). To a greater extent, if this project of building the community successfully works, blessed by Allah, insha-Allah we’ll have a lifelong virtual highly beneficial community via the internet! Amin...

So back to the topic, that’s what I mean about “not-an-autocratic”. I am open to suggestions people. I hope I am not alone here. We are talking about ourselves actually!

New Look

I found this layout here. It's kinda fresh and bizarre to me, which is sooo me. Hehe.. What do you think?

Ok. Got to go back to Banting. Back to practical training after being eat-all-up committee of the iCAST 2008. Hehe...

Expectation II and iCAST 08

After 2 months trapped in Selangor, finally I'll be going to Kuantan!

I was asked to come to IIUM Kuantan Campus to be the committee for the 2nd International Conference on Advancement in Science and Technology (iCAST) 2008 which is held on 13th - 15th June 2008, organized by Kulliyyah of Science (KOS).

Apart from that, the discussion about the establishment of IIUM Students cum Bloggers Community is still on. I want to suggest that name. It's a community only, not a club, or society or what ever terms that might make it sounds official and legally registered. In other way to explain it is that, it is an official community of bloggers among IIUM students with a mutually agreed name.

But i think the name "United Bloggers Community of IIUM Students" might sound better. Isn't it? Then it'll be shortened to UBCIS. Or should it be "United Bloggers Community of Students of IIUM" which will be UBCSI. You don't see the pattern? You-be-CSI. I know many of us love CSI series. Haha...

Other and further discussions are available in this entry. Meanwhile, this blog and this blog could be the references for the suggested blog which will be built for the community. Figure out the format. They are multiple writers blogs.

The to-be-established community blog differs from a forum in the sense that only registered yet responsible members are allowed to post entries while no registration is needed to read and to give comments on them.

Meanwhile, to differentiate the community blog with personal blog is that only entries containing news and facts related to the university (read: IIUM), careers and jobmarkets, and the like are allowed to be posted and personal opinions must be minimized.

What do you think? Do you have any other suggestions?
Any abbreviations for the name of the community maybe?
Which host to use? blogger.com or wordpress.com or others?
What's domain name for the blog you'd like to propose?

Expectation

Let’s talk about unity and university student, I mean IIUM student.

I wrote about how proud I am, being an IIUM student in this entry. Then there were few people who disagreed with my stand. It’s fine. Let them be, and please let me be also. We are human with different thoughts and stands. I respect what ever people say as long as it’s with reasonable and rational basis.

What ever it is, I expect that you, I mean you, yes you who are reading this entry has a lot of knowledge about the internet, or at least you can use it to check emails, to surf the no-boundaries internet world by clicking here and there and I know you know what I’m talking about.

I expect that you, I mean you, yes you who are reading this entry love to build relationship with people around the world. That’s why you have Friendster account, Facebook account and what ever sites that’s mainly built as a medium for people to be connected.

I expect that you, I mean you, yes you who are reading this entry have read at least one blog written by an IIUM student, not considering the blogger reveals him/herself as an IIUM student or not. Here is one that you are reading just right now. Those who for some reasons would not like to reveal themselves but they love to write, that’s fine. That’s entirely up to you.

I expect that you, I mean you, yes you who are reading this entry have your own blog, or have a friend who writes a blog, or you yourself have an intention to start blogging but it’s either you don’t know how, or you don’t know what to write. It’s ok. It’s easier than you think. Be it written in English, be it written in Bahasa Malaysia, or mixed, or what ever language you might think of, never mind as long as it’s a blog.

And lastly but surely not the least, I expect that more and more students from IIUM will be assigning blogging as their interest and hobby day by day. I’ve seen it growing and it’s still growing now. Don’t you see the commonness?

But now, what do you expect from what I expect?

Still don’t see it? Ok, let me be clearer, the best I could.

Ever heard of the word unity? People who unite are stronger than a person who lives in his/her isolated life.

Ever heard of freedom of writing? Yes, it’s free for you to write anything but must be within a legal and lawful (in term of shari’ah especially) atmosphere.

Now, I am suggesting for we to unite under the name of bloggers among IIUM students. That means, any IIUM student who writes blog will be eligible to join the union, or club, or society, or whatever you name it, for we can unite under one name and register under one official blog. And seeing myself under the name of SCIENCESS Exco member who writes a blog, I think I'd like to start with SCIENCESS members first. “SCIENCESS members” refers to all students from Kulliyyah of Science and I have read quite a number of blogs by KOS students and many others a hiding theirs. I instinctively knew it.

So here I want to suggest to all bloggers among KOS students, for now, to unite under one roof. The main objective is for unity sake and the members will get a lot of benefits like provided with:
- Lifelong information about the kulliyyah and the university
- All-time religious, moral and ethical reminders
- News from the graduated students
- Unpopular but important news and events that’s secretly propagated among people
- Most importantly we’ll stay connected, wherever we are. Well, you know the distance isn’t the excuse not be bonded nowadays.

But this is still open for discussion. I want to know what you think about:

- Is it really necessary on the first hand?
- The name of the group.
- Other useful things that could be injected and implemented in the group if you join it.
- Should it be open to other students from other than KOS? Or should we focus only to KOS students so that it’ll be more narrowed down and thus focused.
- Who’ll run the blog?
- Other discussions that might be out of my head.

Let’s discuss people.

Update 10 June 2008.

I just copy and translate what I replied to Alif Zai Mim Ra’s comment for this update. This might be a repetition but there are some new updates. More discussions are in the comment room.

The group that we are going to establish is basically based on these 3 foundations; that the members must be:
- IIUM students (current or graduated)
- Writing blog(s)
- Willing to share and contribute to the community of the group and written in one special blog

Furthermore, I’d rather like it to be formatted as multiple writers’ blog. All of the members of the group are eligible to write and share what ever news related to the university and thus to be shared with the members of the community.

For example: There’s news about students from IIUM winning an international level award and the member of the community knows about it just right before it’s spread in the mass media, so the blog will be the first to feature about the news and thus share it with the community, and to a greater extent to the world!

So you say?
Would you join the group if it's established?

Perkara Tujuh

Owh tidak. Sekali lagi terpaksa aku berbahasa kebangsaan.

Bahan-bahan disusun mengikut susunan masuk-kuali:

Lapisan pertama – Daging Sos Tomato
Mentega – cukup-cukup untuk menumis daging dan bawang. Jangan banyak-banyak.
Bawang besar dipotong dadu
Daging kisar 1 kg – tumis sehingga masak.
Sos tomato Maggi – satu botol besar.
Lada hitam
Oregano – terpulang.

Lapisan kedua – Pasta Pusar (baca: spiral)
Air panas mendidih
Spiral pasta
Garam

Lapisan ketiga – Kentang Lenyek
Kentang 2 kg – rebus dan lenyekkan.
Mentega satu bata – cairkan
Susu segar 1L
Garam
Lada hitam

Lapisan keempat – Hotdog
Hotdog seberapa banyak korang suka. Tak payah goreng.

Lapisan kelima – Cheddar Cheese lebih kurang 12 keping.

Tepung Pie (biasanya aku tak buat pun)
Tepung gandum 1 kg
Mentega
Telur 2 biji
Air garam

Selamat mencuba!

Photoblogging

I know I feature a smoked cigarette above. But that’s not the point.

I know many people would think I’ll be talking about the bad effects of smoking. Yes, there are many such as reduced IQ, infertility, lung cancer, many others physically, socially and financially. It’d be cliché and yet ineffectual for me to talk and talk and talk the same thing again and again and again that has been propagated through the mass media by the ministry (read: Kempen Tak Nak Merokok) but has no effective outcome from the public. I am tired but to see no change. Once one is addicted to smoking, it’ll be hard for him or her to stop, although there’s hope; when inspired with du’a and determination. So people, don’t ever attempt to start smoking. We must hate it! But that’s not the point again.

I also know that I have mentioned previously in the entry entitled “Random Facts about Szakif” that I am easily annoyed with the smoke from smoker. A gasp of smoke from cigarette would easily spoil my day, I mean seriously. That does not include when the smoke makes my shirt smells bad. That’ll be even exasperating! But still that isn’t the point.

I also know I wrote an entry telling about my hobby in photography. Well, that’s almost basically the point! The picture that I put above is actually one of my works last time when I attended a wedding ceremony. And, this is the real deal – I have started photoblogging people! Haha~
