Way On...

Last week I had the last final midterm paper and this week, few of the results have been revealed. They are Physiology II, Anatomy II and Human Genetics. For Anatomy II, I scored splendidly with flying colors while the rest 2 subjects, I scored which I consider worth of the effort I put on them. O_o

Yet, observing the results for midterm papers so far, and observing the marks I got for reports and assignments, the target for dean’s list this semester is still on its way as long as I do well in the coming final exams.

Apart from that, I feel pity with my friend whom I saw struggling really hard like dead but then came out with unbelievably unsatisfying result. Pity him... He asked many of us what we answered, how we dealt with the questions, what was the strategy to answer the MCQ questions and so on. But the fact is, they were almost the same way he did, but still he didn’t score. Why?

Couldn’t help him anything else, I told him this – Allah doesn’t judge on the result you got, but he judges on the effort you put. His blessing is much more worthy than people’s respect towards you. Ada hikmah di sebalik semua yang terjadi...

KOS AGD

It was last Friday when we have dinner named Annual Grand Dinner (AGD) with the Rector to celebrate our last moments living and studying in Gombak. Stylo and glamorous are the theme for that night which I think suit enough to show how grand the function should be. But sadly, it wasn’t as expected because too many flaws occurred.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Odahians are never apart!

I managed to pinpoint all those flaws but after reading Kak Arshana’s blog, I think it’s better not to do that because they already know what the flaws are. To me, since this program invited Rector, who holds the highest authority in the campus, so everything must be perfect or at least not too many obvious flaws.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Kak Arshana, i just capture the picture with the candles, but i didn't play and spill out the candle ok~:D

One thing that I cannot accept is that there were few of the participants who snap pictures among themselves at the back of the hall while in the same time the Rector is in front there, giving speech! Can you imagine how rude that is?

But all in all, I was very happy that night! Good bye Gombak!!

Madcaps and Election

Let me name this week as Microbiology week, simply because from Sunday to Friday, the only book that I touch is Microbiology textbook. Sunday till Wednesday I struggled too much for the midterm test but then I found out that the exam wasn’t as hard as I thought it should be. If I’m not mistaken, all the objective questions were from the textbook itself, and fortunately I did answer the questions as practice. What a co-incidence! Next, Thursday till Friday, I have to prepare for a quiz. Kesian plak kat subjek-subjek lain, it’s like step-childrening them plak! O_o

And now here I am, in front of the textbook, spending some time to release the tense after spending some time (lesser actually O_o) reading the book. When I feel like want to play game, I will stop reading, close the book and straightly play the game. Hehe... I’m currently crazy with MadCaps, a game from Game House. The person responsible for this craziness is Asmawi! He’s the one who introduced me this click-click game. To be frank, I don’t play games like football, counter strike, maple and others. Too time consuming la... Huhu...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It's about to the end! Too many unmovable black caps.

And again about Asmawi, he’s going to be 21 years old this Sabtuday (this spelling really creative and cool, created by Radhi OAG). Happy birthday Asmawi Ani (Dali actually)!!! A friend whom I knew since from matric level, whom I never saw him get angry and whom I feel happy to be with. Girls! He’s free and available, tak rugi sape dapat dia wei! Serius cakap! (habisla kalau Awi bace ni.. O_o)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Asmawi in fushcia. Ignore that bad-looking guy on his left.

Apart from that, along this week, the university is in the mood of election, to select the lines of political personals as next Student Representative Council 2006/2007. Unlike last year where we even hadn’t the chance to vote (because the Aspirasi won without opponent), this year’s election is different. WUFI (We Unite for Islam) shows their resurrection after the leadership was taken over by Aspirasi for one year period last academic year. Up to the time when I type this entry, I still don’t know who win the election, but I guess I would be WUFI. Few of the candidates (including from Kulliyyah of Science, my kulliyyah) have won the seats (betul ke istilah ni?) tanpa bertanding. Where have gone all those Aspirasi candidates? Takut ke? O_o

Owh... before I end, I wanna wish everybody Happy Ramadhan and Happy Fasting. I can’t wait to spend the first day of this full-of-barakah month with my family after about 1 month not seeing them. Gentlemen and post-menopause ladies, puasa elok-elok! O_o

Er... no caption.

Ok la... let’s continue reading the Parasites topic. Lalala...

Falling in Love with English

One more Microbiology midterm paper to go this Wednesday after a very tough Human Genetics paper I had last Friday. I should blame myself for not memorizing the causes of sickle cell anemia because that was the question arisen in the exam! Argh! But I wonder if there’s really any complete cure for this genetic disease, because that’s the last question in that paper. Other than blood transfusion and gene therapy, which are not complete cure for the disease, what else?

Lots more preparation to do for the Microbiology paper, but still this weekend I could spend my time finishing watching Desperate Housewife season 2 series! I desperately needed to get all series done before I can actually focus on the text-book or else it will keep haunting me when I’m studying! Funny uh?

Besides the family-problems series, I also had done watching ghost-seeker Supernatural series! A friend of mine (who told me he met my twin previously but still not passing me his phone number) introduced me the series and I fall in love to watch the series because I am really into horror movies, but not that addicted though.

But after that, after spending my time watching those series whilst having lunch, dinner and sometimes even during breakfast, I found that watching movies or drama (English I mean) really help me improving my English. Plus, the screen is never with subtitle! And the dictionary is just right close to grab.

All these while, I used to watch English movies with Malay subtitle where my eyes could not stop looking at the subtitles and read, instead of listen what the people in the screen having conversation! And of course I missed some of the interesting and exciting shots.

I don’t know why, but the courage to improve my English is currently developing and here I am, writing entries for this blog in English! Previously, it even hard to finish a four-line paragraph and that’s the time I changed my mind and deleted those English words and started writing in Malay. However, in exam, I can answer almost properly, as long as it’s not English-subject paper. Huhu...

Anyway, wish me the best for next paper on Wednesday. Amen... (Why Christians use this pray-ending as well huh? Isn’t it Arabic word?)

Visiting IIUM Kuantan Campus II

What a relief! The exam was postponed to Friday. Actually I haven’t done reading (and memorizing of course) all those notes related to the Human Genetics midterm exam. So now I have time to finish this entry. Hoho...

About the trip, after about 4 and a half hour travel, we arrived at the remote IIUM Kuantan campus. Well, to me, the campus wasn’t as remote as I thought, but still can be considered remote la...

And one thing for sure, it’s like UIA and hills can't be apart. When there’s UIA campus, there are hills. Argh! So cliché, but you know what, this is what makes the campus so harmony and peaceful with such ample oxygen supply. At least I don’t have to adapt to a new shocking environment when I move there, insya–Allah...

We were brought straightly to our kulliyyah buildings. To be sure, as my friend told me, the buildings are built quite ceruk kat hujung campus like no one knows there’s another clumps of buildings. Seriously!

Looking at the not-yet-done buildings made me thinking like this – sure ke nak pindah sem depan ni? Although by naked eyes you can see in the pictures I attach here, the external look of the buildings shows that it’s done, but the internal one, not yet. But who knows, maybe the in-charge workers are so hardworking that they can make this done and clear before we move?

One thing I really cannot stand is the location of the café! Well, you know that I’m quite ‘monsterous’ in eating (gelak setan) so it was really disappointing to know the café is located (again) quite remote in Physical Building. Argh! It seems like I’ve to brunch everyday when I move to Kuantan campus. It’s time-consuming to walk to the café which is situated about 100-200 meters from the Biology Building. Argh! Worse come to the worse, the café is so small! Imagine during lunch hour, the café will be packed with bunch of people?! It'll be so crowded ma~

Another thing about food is that; problem for those international students as some of them do not eat Malaysian food! A question arose during a meeting after we arrived; will there any food other than Malaysian foods? Well... simple answer – NO. You have to adapt to Malaysian foods, whether you like or not. Clap clap clap!!!

So many complains huh?

Visiting IIUM Kuantan Campus

The day started like the earlier days that I’d been through when I woke up at 6.30 am and straightly headed to the toilet to do ablution.

BUT it wasn’t like usual when I opened the door! There was a big monkey (beruk to be exact) sitting on the “penghadang” (don’t know the right term) right in front of my door. And I realized that there were some others had already known about its presence.

{the beruk}

I didn’t want to put myself into risk so I stayed inside my room while looking at the monkey furtively. It kept moving here and there, down floor, upfloor like looking for something. When it moved to other floor, I immediately ran to toilet, do ablution and then ran again to room. Haha... so funny la... antara beruk tu dan aku, sape lagi besar?

Er.. will be continuing later... I need time to study human genetics for this wednesday midterm exam. Just have a look at the pictures I put here la...

Visit to IIUM Kuantan (remote) Campus

Tomorrow i'll be visiting the remote campus at Kuantan. I sent an sms to a friend of mine who studies there informing on the visit, but then he replied "Seeing is Believing"... OK, that sounds something not-so-good to me. Really!

Can't wait to visit Kuantan tomorrow. You, just wait for the entry on that visit which will be posted just right when I arrive Gombak again.

Meeting My Twin

I always dream to have twin. I don’t know why, but this feeling keeps asking me to find one. No, I mean facially twin.

I still remember when I was about 7 years old, I met someone whose face very similar to mine during a kenduri in my relative’s home. But that time I was so shy to talk to him. Then I just looked at him from distance.

Then, yesterday, a friend of mine told me that he met someone who’s really the same way like I am, facially and behaviorally. I don’t know what he meant by ‘behaviorally’ but that sounded great! Great, because at last I can meet him (may be he is not the one I mention above) but the thing is, I can contact him – someone who looks like me!

So I asked the beloved friend of mine to asked for his number or any other way (friendster, blog, email etc) that I contact him because the ‘facially and behaviorally twin of mine’ is a friend of my friend’s girlfriend. Got me? Haha~ it sounds confusing right?

Anyway, I’m looking forward to knowing him.

Apart from that, so far in my 21-year-old-to-be-next-October I have met about... er.. let me count...

Usman and Umar
Amir Izudin and Amir Izuan
Rafique and Zarique
Johan and his not-so-resemble female twin
who else huh?

...who are or were close to me. So being with them put me into confusion sometimes that I cannot differentiate which one is which. But after long gaining relationship with them I slowly could see their differences, although not so distinctive.

I asked one of the couples, “seronok tak jadi kembar?” and the answered, “TAK! Pasal nanti orang akan banding bezakan si abang dengan si adik kembar”. Owh... is that it? Then I asked another couple and they answered, “SERONOK pasal jadi perhatian kalau jalan beriring”. Owh... capub-kind of person they seemed.

If you have twin, what would you say? To me, I just love to have one.

I Look Stupid...

I look stupid when I use English here, but I dont mind what people say because I'm on my way to enhancing my English. To be stupid and to know that your are not good in something is the first step to betterment.

It's better to look stupid now, not tomorrow in the future... Isn't it?

psst... nad... i'v done reading the Bagaikan Puteri novel, all of because of you! Best giler!!

2 Programs

On Monday night, I had a program named Graduation Night held in Vistana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. I was the one who in charge in Special Task Bureau where the presents, name tags, invitation cards, bus booking, and certificates are among my job scope.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The program simply ran smoothly where no big changes had been made except that my dearest friends’ performance was cancelled due to inappropriate substance. To be frank, I wasn’t agreed with the performance but thank God it was cancelled. Imagine while you are having your greatly delicious and mouth-watering dinner and suddenly people give a poem about killing, suffering, and all. Is it appropriate?

However, the only one performance that night was from a group named EVOL. To me they performed well. It’s actually unusual to find such band consisting of trumpet and saxophone player and keyboarder, besides those basic drummer and guitarists and vocalist of course. Er… could you find other vocalist?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
EVOL... LOVE

About the theme that night, it called “KL by Moonlight”. Most of the female guests followed it but not the males. Even the one voted to be King that night didn’t show the spirit of the theme. But it was good that he admitted he didn’t follow the theme but people vote him, what can he do right? This one, I have to blame the person-in-charge to choose final three candidates. But big applause to the girls! Korang memang world la! My mouth could not stand to stop laughing minute to minute looking them making jokes during photography session.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
With King that Night. "Jakarta by Moonlight" yeah?

About the meals that night, nothing else to say but full of waste! I wonder where those chefs behind the kitchen threw those uneaten foods and drinks. And I wonder if I bring tupperware, surely I’ll share my full stomach with my roommates! Anyway, the buffet-served meals were outstanding especially the satay and its kuah. Seriously, traditional foods attracted me a lot that night than western ones.

All in all, I hope I’ll be selected to be committee for Graduation Night next time but please, don’t put me under Special Task again. I’m sick of designing name tags! But don’t put me under Sponsorship please... Am I too choosy?

Two days later, there was Merdeka Celebration and Closing Ceremony for the 22nd Convocation of the IIUM both held together at the same time, same venue. To save budget I think. Hehe...

Imagine a van packed with 15 angklungians.

However, I couldn’t be there right on-time because I had angklung practice so I missed the earlier performances. Team II of Angklung Club also performed that night but Pak Dadang (the trainer) wasn’t satisfied with us so we had to do training again and again even an hour before our actual performance! We supposed to play 3 songs; Tanggal 31, Sejahtera Malaysia and Jalur Gemilang but Pak Dadang cancelled the Tanggal 31 song because we played horribly for that song. To me personally I felt relief with that decision because it was a hard song to be played by angklung. The tempo is fast and the tendency to play out of tempo is high there. Fuh... lenguh tangan beb main lagu tu!

The crowd. See the smoke, this is actually after bunga api meletop-letop.

Last time performing with Angklung Club.

When it’s time for us to perform, I felt so happy and I want to play the best I can because that was my last moment performing with Angklung Club since I’ve made my mind to quit from that club in September. I need to focus on my study after this. Sorry guys for this decision. And it worked! We played very well that night compared to last Saturday. I saw sincere smile from Bapak’s face indicating that he satisfied with us. Alhamdulillah... I told him that I will not join any other performance after this and he didn’t say anything on that but asking where will I go. I answered “ Saye pindah Kuantan sem depan, Pak!”. He replied, “Owh katanya mahu bukak kelab angklung di sana”. Owh I hope that will come true!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Wawachan... Nice to know you...

After we performed, we straightly went to keep the angklungs into the practice room before celebrating the 12.00 am of 31st August 2006 together with other IIUM students at Male Sport Complex. The celebration was out of my expectation. So hilarious! After singing Negaraku and Jalur Gemilang songs and praying du’a, there were Tarian Singa and Zapin performances.

Throughout my 21-to-be year’s life, that was the first time I watched Tarian Singa right in front of my eyes. They dancers were very skillful that they didn’t miss any of the pillars the stepped on. I was amazed. Next, the Zapin dancers also performed well although they didn’t as soft as children dancing for Siti Nurhaliza on Cindai of AJL ’96.

Zapin dancers.

All in all, I felt so happy lately although all things are very time- and energy-consuming. I will not find any of these in Kuantan after moving next semester because the campus has nothing but lackfulness.

Apart from that, I’ll be having few midterm examinations on 7th – 20th of September. Maybe this blog will have no update up to that period because I really need full attention on scoring those papers. Amin... may good results be on my side.

I'm going to miss this some time after this. Sob sob...
